Dental Glossary and Visual Guide
***I will continually add more dental terms and health words and visuals to this page. Please ask for specific words in the comments, and I will get to those words ASAP! :)
Teeth Grinding: Tooth to tooth contact that is causing the enamel of the tooth to wear thin, or completely through. This can expose the next layer or tooth called dentin.
Dentin: second layer under the white, smooth enamel on teeth. Dentin is more yellowish in color than enamel, and more soft and porous. Dentin is more prone to tooth decay due to being soft and porous.
Abfraction: Knotched, or wearing thin structural damage to tooth when recession is pressure. Abfractions mostly appear at the bottom of the gingival margin.
Buccal Mucosa: Tissues on the inside of the mouth located on the sides of the inner cheeks, and inner lips. This tissue is soft and movable.
